Code of Conduct
- Respect all swimmers and seek to develop their potential.
- Treat each swimmer as a unique individual.
- Learn as much as you can about teaching swimming.
- Make sure that each swimmers time with you is positive and self-enhancing.
- Have a positive effect on the swimmer's lives.
- Most federations have a code of conduct for working with swimmers.
Background & Ethnicity Considerations
- Ethnic differences (diet, values)
- Country or origin (diet, values, language)
- Home language, can they understand English easily and clearly?
- Diet: vegetarian, do not eat certain foods.
- Peer interaction: Can they simulate and mix easily.
- Religion: Go to church or prayer at certain times, festivals (Ramadan)
- Values; customs and general differences.
- Respect beliefs
Your main priority is to provide a Safe Environment:
- Water quality and temperature
- Air temperature, sun UV,
- Home language, can they understand English easily and clearly?
- Diet: vegetarian, do not eat certain foods.
- Peer interaction: Can they simulate and mix easily.
- Religion: Go to church or prayer at certain times, festivals (Ramadan)
